Abstract
Requirement for the higher security resistance properties of glass products has been increased recently. Among various resistance properties, explosion resistance is very important for security glazing development. In order to study the explosion resistance made with float glass, stress generation on the 300mmX300mm float glass by shock wave and blast wave loading have been investigated, using the 300mmX300mm vertical square shock tube. Time variation of stress generation pattern in shock wave loading or blast wave loading showed with the sum of the dynamic element that periodical oscillates and the static element corresponding to the pressure value of shock wave or blast wave. In spite of the pressure pattern by the shock wave loading being different with that of the blast wave, the maximum stress generation value by shock wave loading and that by blast wave loading were shown to be very nearly equal in same Mach number.
