In concrete structures, since cracks by thermal stress and other shrinkage stress cause an initial defect, the provisions, such as choosing appropriate materials and construction methods, for controlling the above stresses have been discussed mainly. However, it is difficult to clearly determine an effect of material used for preventing cracking by thermal stress and shrinkage stress. In this study, effects for controlling thermal stress were evaluated by the temperature-stress testing machine, the materials used were low heat portland cement, expansive admixture and shrinkage-reducing agent. Moreover, specific Young′s modulus used in thermal-stress analysis was calculated on basis of temperature-stress testing results.
