Abstract
Sialon has high hardness, high strength and high oxidation resistance to be expected as an engineering ceramics in a high temperature or severe environment use. In our previous work, we synthesized Ca-α sialon nano powders by carbothermal reduction-nitridation of SiO2-Al2O3-CaO system, and fabricated Ca-α sialon nano ceramics using it by spark plasma sintering method. As a result of corrosion test, it was found to be better corrosion resistance in H2SO4 35mass% than in H2SO4 5mass% and better in HNO3 5mass% than in H2SO4 5mass%.
