Volatile organic compound (VOC) gas sensing properties of the layered organic-inorganic hybrids of semiconductive molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) thin films with polyaniline derivatives, e.g. poly(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-1-naphthylamine) (PTHNA), has been investigated. The (PTHNA)xMoO3 thin films can detect dozen ppb level of HCHO and CH3CHO gases. It seems that the resistive responses to aldehyde gases on the (PTHNA)xMoO3 tend to be affected by intercalation temperatures during PTHNA-intercalation into MoO3 interlayers. In this presentation, the optimum intercalation temperature is revealed by HCHO-sensing property measurement and XPS analysis.
