Abstract
GRAPE Technology is the extremely simple technique including both spatial design and thermal oxidation for providing the spontaneous apatite-forming ability with titanium and its alloy under the body environment. In this study, cylindrical Ti-15Zr-4Nb-4Ta alloy adopted with or without GRAPE Technology were implanted into bony defect of rabbit femur. After 2, 4 and 8 weeks implantation, shear tensile strength between bone and specimen was measured. In early implantation periods, the tensile strength between bone and specimen using GRAPE Technology was significantly higher than that of specimen without GRAPE Technology.
