Abstract
LiCoO2 fine powder was prepared from CoOOH and LiOH·H2O by hydrothermal method for micro lithium ion battery application. In this study, CH3COOLi and NH4OH were examined as the additives. SEM and DLS observations revealed that the particle size of obtained LiCoO2 power was ~100 nm regardless of addition of CH3COOLi or NH4OH. However, the discharge capacity was greatly affected by the additives. The LiCoO2 prepared without the additives exhibited 96 mA h g-1, but those prepared with CH3COOLi or NH4OH exhibited 106 mA h g-1 or 125 mA h g-1. This result suggests that the additives play great roles in the hydrothermal synthesis of LiCoO2.
