Abstract
Glass making consumes much energy for the production of high quality glasses. The rapid glass melting method of "In-flight melting" has been developed to realize the innovative melting of raw materials in oxy-fuel combustion burner and thermal plasma. It is expected to shorten the residence time of the glass melts in melter and reduce the energy in total. The new melting technique also changes glass properties, especially the gas species dissolved in glass. In order to control the quality of glass, the analysis of the gas species in the residual bubbles is indispensable information. In this study, the gas analysis system of bubbles has been assembled using a quadrupole mass spectrometer with high accuracy for the in-flight melted glass.
