Abstract
Hydroxyapatite is the main mineral of bones and teeth. Artificially synthesized hydroxyapatite has been extensively used in a variety of applications, such as biomaterials, ion exchangers, adsorbents, and catalysts by exploiting its biocompatibility and adsorbability with many compounds. In this presentation, the conditions for preparing transparent block consisting of low crystallized hydroxyapatite and liquid infiltration into the block will be reported. The hydroxyapatite transparent block should be useful for cell culture substrates because cells adhered on the hydroxyapatite transparent block can be directly observed with an optical microscope without any pretreatments.
