Investigation of cockroach habitat in the outdoor urban environmentXVI Difference of cockroaches collected by sticky traps placed under vending machines between 2006 and 2016

Abstract

Cockroaches in urban environments were surveyed by sticky traps from July through October 2016 in Minato-ku, Tokyo. When the traps were installed under outdoor vending machines, Periplaneta fuliginosa was captured most, followed by the Blattella germanica, B. nipponica, and P. americana. The number of species and individuals of captured cockroaches in 2016 increased from that in 2006. There were some differences between 2016 and 2006, such as attractant baits, temperature, precipitation, and weather. In addition, Salticidae of spider and 12 species of ants were captured in the same period. However, Linepithema humile and Latrodectus hasselti were not collected.
