Cockroaches in urban environments were surveyed by sticky traps from July through October 2016 in Minato-ku, Tokyo. When the traps were installed under outdoor vending machines, Periplaneta fuliginosa was captured most, followed by the Blattella germanica, B. nipponica, and P. americana. The number of species and individuals of captured cockroaches in 2016 increased from that in 2006. There were some differences between 2016 and 2006, such as attractant baits, temperature, precipitation, and weather. In addition, Salticidae of spider and 12 species of ants were captured in the same period. However, Linepithema humile and Latrodectus hasselti were not collected.

We investigated the number of Indian meal moths (Plodia interpunctella) captured by pheromone traps placed both inside and outside residential buildings in the Kanto region of Japan. The survey was conducted at two sites in Tokyo, three sites in Saitama, three sites in Kanagawa, and two sites in Ibaraki, during October and November of 2017. At each survey site, traps were placed inside and outside residential buildings. Indoor traps were placed on kitchen walls near refrigerators or cupboards; outdoor traps were placed under eaves or on balcony floors. The indoor traps at the Souka and Kawaguchi, Saitama, sites captured three adult Indian meal moths that were considered to have entered the building from outside. At the other sites, however, the indoor traps captured no moths. The outdoor traps captured 157 adults in total. These results show that P. interpunctella was active outdoors during October and November, although fewer moths were captured by the pheromone traps in November.

Millipedes were found on Yakushima Is. in the middle of May 2017. The millipedes were identified as Oxidus riukiaria, and all of them were nymphs in this season. They were physically controlled by residents who affixed stainless steel tapes were affixed around the foundations of houses to prevent millipedes from invading houses. Residents rated this method as having a certain effect.
