Ovarian vein thrombosis (OVT) is a rare form of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), with common risk factors including pregnancy and the puerperium, malignancy, recent surgery, and pelvic infections. Most of the previously reported studies have focused on postpartum OVT (POVT) or extremely rare idiopathic cases, and OVT due to other causes remains poorly understood. In this study, we retrospectively identified nine cases of non-postpartum OVT (NPOVT) unrelated to pregnancy, and we report our findings regarding their symptoms, underlying causes, clinical characteristics and treatment strategies.
