Abstract

Water molecules are the most important constituent substances in cells, but it was difficult to measure with conventional techniques. It is also known that the spectroscopic information of the hydrogen bond network of water molecules lies in the sub-terahertz region. The author has been developing the near-field CMOS array sensor for qualitatively evaluating cells based on this spectroscopic information. In this paper, as an example of terahertz-bio application research, I introduce our terahertz spectroscopic measurement method of cultured cells and the development of this near-field array sensor for cancer cell detection.
