Geographic Distribution of Serum Amylase Type Electrophoretic Variations among Sus scrofa Wild Pig Populations in Eastern European and Asian Regions

Electrophoretic variations of Am were examined in wild pig populations of geographic subspecies belonging to Sus scrofa in Eastern European and Asian regions. The variations were observed in the populations of S.s. scrofa, S.s. nigripes, S.s. leucomystax and S.s. riukiuanus, with S.s. nigripes and S.s. leucomystax being remarkably polymorphic. The variant alleles were Am^A, Am^B and Am^C. Degrees of differentiation in those subspecies were more notable among populations on islands than on the Continent.
