Etiology of the urinary infections was investigated, particularly on the role of Enterobacteriaceae and the following results were obtained
1. 804 strains were isolated from 591 cases (285 patients). They were consisted of Enterobacteriaceae (50%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (25%), Micrococcus (15%) and others.
2. In Enterobacteriaceae, Proteae was found to be 63%, most of them were P. morganii and followed by Escherichia (ca. 37%), Klebsiella and Cloaca. The last two famillies were in very low percentage.
3. Up to this time, it is said that the frequently observed etiologic species of the disease is E. coli, but in present studies, it was Proteae.
This difference seems to be caused partly by the use of antibiotics for these infections.
