Abstract
Concentrations of glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride and total protein in blood were examined in the patients with Alzheimer-type dementia (ATD) and vascular dementia (VD). The glucose level was significantly lower in the ATD group than in the VD group. Moreover, none of the ATD patients had abnormal level of glucose. These findings in Japanese ATD patients support the previous studies which showed no coexistence of ATD and DM, and abnormality in glycolytic breakdown of glucose in ATD.
