Abstract
During endoscopic surgery for malignant disease, cancer cell implantation can, on rare occasions, take place at the port insertion site. This event has been reported as port site metastasis and is recognized as a form of tumor recurrence specific to patients treated by endoscopic surgery. We recently encountered a case of port site metastasis after laparoscopic colectomy for the treatment of descending colon cancer. This case is presented with a review of the literature.
