Abstract
In 2011, Juntendo University School of Medicine planned to allow second- to sixth-year medical school students to attend the 28Th General Assembly of the Japan Medical Congress in Tokyo. However, the great east Japan earthquake on March 11 forced the congress and us to change our original plans. Fortunately, the congress was rescheduled and held in a modified style. After the congress, our students recognized that the current medical and education system was built on past experiences and that our university has contributed greatly to the history of medicine. Their motivation for study was reinforced by the congress.
