Preliminary analysis of action types that mention arXiv papers on Twitter

Abstract

The open access of research papers has become widespread, and opportunities for non-researchers to access the papers are increasing. In the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), papers of the author's version are sometimes published on arXiv, and there are many tweets about these arXiv papers on Twitter. In this study, we obtain the information of four action types (statuses, retweeters, favoriters and repliers) that mention arXiv papers on Twitter and analyze the characteristics of each information. As a result of the analysis, we found that no correlation between each action type for users, and a small number of users mention directly to the arXiv papers, and many users retweet or favorite them.
