Abstract

Incidental exposure to news enables people who do not have an interest in news to acquire news knowledge. We expect incidental exposure to mitigate knowledge inequality for news including politics. In this paper, we analyze incidental exposure effects on the interests of politics and news knowledge. We found that incidental exposure increases the interests of politics and hard news knowledge when used in conjunction with mass media and social media.
