Structuring handwritten nursing care records and developing a visualization system

Abstract

In the field of medical and nursing care, it is desired to analyze nursing and nursing care records using computers for improving the efficiency of operations and the quality of services. However, there are many medical institutions and nursing homes that still keep handwritten records. In this study, we structured the contents of the handwritten nursing care records of a nursing home, and developed a visualization system that allows nurses and care workers grasp the changes in the physical condition and treatment of the users (elderly people using the facility) over time. The system not only visualizes the basic numerical information of vitals, but also arranges frequent keywords along the time axis.
