Abstract

In a persuasive dialogue, the persuader must impose his/her intentions on the persuadee while respecting a persuadee's face. The ideas of politeness theory can be used as a linguistic consideration to ensure that dialogue participants do not attack face with each other. It allows persuasion to take place while maintaining smooth interpersonal relations. In this study, we annotated the Japanese persuasive corpus with "face act", which is a unit considering politeness, and analyzed the annotated corpus with the view for building a persuasive dialogue system.
