Abstract

Since defectors tend to survive in the spatial game theory, researchers have proposed various models for the purpose of survivals of cooperators. However, most of those models are not realistic. In this study therefore, we suggest an agent-based model considering players’ decision-makings. In the proposed model, defectors tend to decrease the probability of the strategy update while cooperators tend to increase the probability of the strategy update. As mentioned above, this model coordinates the timing of the strategy update according to states of players’ strategies. This model is based on a previous study of a relationship between cooperative behaviors and the timing for the decision-makings. As a result, we found that this model was easy to maintain the density of cooperators than a conventional SPD model. Furthermore, this model was not affected by a parameter regarding defector vs. cooperator than a conventional SPD model while researchers have focused on a relationship between that parameter value and an optimization of the system.
