In medical institutions, the number of medical devices is increasing, their operation and maintenance are becoming more complex, and the burden of medical device management is increasing for medical staff. In addition, the COVID-19 epidemic has increased the importance of medical device management, such as ventilators. On the other hand, there is a shortage of medical staff, as nurses are retiring. In this study, we have developed a monitoring system that manages the location information and operating status of medical devices to solve these problems. In this system, we use a device we developed. This device is a power strip equipped with an LPWA module and a current sensor. We propose an estimating method for the operating status of devices using a hidden Markov model based on their current values and the variance values of AC waveforms. We also report the results of applying this system to an actual hospital.
