Visualization of Body Supporting Force-Field for Understanding Living Functions of Elderly

Abstract

Typical causes of main elderly product accidents have been classified as misuse of the product or user carelessness. However, some of the accidents stem from the lack of adequate body supporting functions of daily consumer products. The purpose of this study is to develop a system that enables visualization of body supporting force-field for investigating how the elderly use daily necessities. In this study, we developed the system of body supporting force-field and video in real time acquiring body holding action data by RGB-D camera and wearable force sensor data. The system validation experiment was conducted in a laboratory that imitates everyday space. Experiment shows that system can visualize body supporting force-field.
