Development of a System to Concentrate on Lecture Video Using Puns

Abstract

The recent covid-19 pandemic has led to many online lectures. Those lectures allow students to participate in a free environment such as their own rooms, where temptations abound. For example, when they get bored in a lecture, they not only start doing different tasks on their computers or smartphones, but also start reading unrelated books or comics. To solve this problem, we propose a system to help students concentrate in class using puns. Puns are a type of word game attract the listener's attention because of their humor and silliness. We propose a system that leads students to concentrate on their lectures using this function. The system generates puns from important words in the lecture. The puns attract the user's attention to the lesson. We conducted a verification experiment of the proposed system and confirmed that this system improved the students' ability to concentrate.
