Two geographical races are recognized in a sawfly, Tenthredo viridatrix, and one occurring in Japan and Sakhalin is described as a new subspecies under the name of T. viridatrix nippon. It differs from the nominotypical subspecies from East Siberia and Korea in having darker coloration.
