Gangesia margolisi n. sp. (Cestoidea : Proteocephalidae) is described and figured from the intestine of the Biwa catfish Silurus biwaensis (Osteichthyes : Siluridae), caught in Lake Biwa, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. It is different from all the previously known species of the genus Gangesia WOODLAND, 1924, in that the cirrus pouch is curved backward and large enough to reach the median line of the proglottid.

A new species of the genus Itaquascon was found in Central Japan and is described under the name of Itaquascon globuliferum. This species differs from its known congeners in having stylet supports and nearly spherical pharyngeal bulb with placoids.

A new species of harpacticoid copepod, Gulcamptus jesoanus, is described from Hokkaido, northern Japan. This species was previously recorded as Gulcamptus sp. S from Hokkaido by the senior author. The new species is the second species of the genus, of which the type species Gulcamptus uenoi was described from Korea.

A new species of the genus Australomysis, A. hispida sp. nov., is described. This species is distinguished from four known species of the genus by the triangular rostrum with pointed apex, the slender antennal scale and the arrangement of marginal spines of the telson. The present report of the genus from Japan is the first record from outside Australia.

Detailed descriptions of the prezoeal cuticle are given for three brachyuran crabs : Cycloxanthops truncatus (DE HAAN), Hexapinus latipes (DE HAAN), Macromaedeus distinguendus (DE HAAN). The form of the prezoeal cuticle represents naupliar features rather than protozoeal ones. Compared with the family Penaeidae, the Brachyura diverged from the early ontogenetic stage, and attained a significantly higher evolutionary level. Therefore, the Brachyura seem to have developed by neotenic evolution.

Three new species of oribatid mites are described from Sengokubara Moor in Hakone. Their names and characteristic features (in parentheses) are as follows : Hoplophthiracarus inoueae sp. n. (granular structure on the anterior part of aspis), Malaconothrus yamamotoi sp. n. (thick and barbed rostral setae and long and smooth notogastral setae), Protoribates hakonensis sp. n. (small body, sensilli with a distinct head and setae le longer than setae ro).

Two new species of the proturan genus Eosentomon BERLESE are described from northern Japan under the names, E. juni and E. konsenense. Both the forms are similar to E. alaskaense NOSEK and E. copelandi NOSEK from Alaska and E. tokui IMADATE from northern Japan, but are distinguished from them by the position and relative lengths of foretarsal sensillae as well as by the body chaetotaxy.

Two geographical races are recognized in a sawfly, Tenthredo viridatrix, and one occurring in Japan and Sakhalin is described as a new subspecies under the name of T. viridatrix nippon. It differs from the nominotypical subspecies from East Siberia and Korea in having darker coloration.

Five species of Delia from Taiwan are dealt with. Of these one species, D. formosana, is described as new to science, and three others, D. longitheca SUWA, D. takizawai SUWA and D. echinata (SEGUY), are recorded as new to Taiwan. The new species belongs to the Delia elongata section of GRIFFITHS (1991).
