Abstract
In the preliminary report, the three halos obtained from films of nitro-cellulose by electron diffraction were quantitatively well interpreted The outer halo was due to the interatomic distances of the neighbouring C-C, C-O, O-O and N-O atoms, the middle halo clue to those of C-C, C-O, O-O and N-O intervened by one of C, O and N, and the inner halo to longer distances. If this conclusion is true, these three halos should generally be obtained from films of other organic substances in amorphous state. In the present paper, this point is successfully ascertained with films of native-, acetyl-, benzyl-, methyl- and nitro-cellulose, agar, gelatin and polystyrene, films of resogalz, polyethylene sebacate, “white” gutta percha, fibroin and keratin, reported by other investigators being as reference
