Hydroxyapatite was precipitated from a supersaturated solution of Ca(OH)2 by neutralization with orthophosphoric acid. This precipitation led to a suspension of fine particles. The influence of the operating conditions was established experimentally. The suspension of hydroxyapatite particles was directly dried by fluidization on a support. The feasibility of the fluidization process was studied and the main parameters determined : support (glass balls, φ : 530 μm), temperature of drying air, method of introduction of the pulp. The final product is a fine powder of hydroxyapatite with a median diameter in the range 63 - 100 μm.
