A series of binary strontium phosphate glasses, x SrO·(1-x) P2O5 with 0 ≤x≤ 0.5 was preprared and charcterized by Raman spectroscopy and chemical analysis. The results of the evaluation of the Raman spectra were compared with the results for the glasses x CaO·(1-x) P2O5. It turned out, that the existence of the crystalline compound SrP4O11 is imporbable. Although the calcium and strontium metaphospahte glasses are structurally very similar by their vibrational spectra the structure of the strontium ultraphosphate glasses should have certain differences from the structure of the calcium ultraphosphate glasses.
