Pt/glass composite electrodes for intermediate temperature fuel cells (operated at 150~350°C) were developed. Proton conductive glass (PCG) fuel cell equipped with these electrodes were operated at 300°C. The PCG fuel cell showed 0.11 mW/cm2, which is three times higher than the output from a PCG fuel cell with Pt/polymer electrodes at 100°C. in addition, the PCG fuel cell was operated under dry atmosphere at 300°C successfully generating 0.02 mW/cm2. However, PCG fuel cells showed marked deterioration for long term test, and it is expected that the deterioration is caused by low stability of PCG and electrodes at intermediate temperature.
