Abstract
Philosophy and business have traditionally been considered to be incompatible. Today, however, companies are also called upon to solve social issues and present their own Purpose, and need to pursue values for a better life and a better society.
The theme of philosophy and business is also related to A. N. Whitehead. After he moved to Harvard University in 1924, he influenced and was influenced by the scholars and businesspersons at Harvard Business School. In Japan as well, there are numerous studies that apply his philosophy to business administration.
After researching Whitehead's philosophy of nature, metaphysics and cosmology, I established Japan's first philosophy-based consulting firm, Cross Philosophies, Ltd., in May 2017. This paper reports and examines how Whitehead's philosophy and business are integrated in practice, introducing our enterprises. Furthermore, I will discuss issues concerning philosophy and business, and propose my vision on these matters.
