In “A Concept of Organism, Emergent and Resultant” (1926-7), C. Lloyd Morgan showed that Alfred North Whitehead integrated organic theory and emergent evolution. Building on Morgan’s insights, this study clarifies the relationship between organic theory and emergent evolution. It particularly examines Lawrence Joseph Henderson’s concept of the fitness of the environment, which enabled Whitehead to expand the concept of the organism from living organisms to the entire cosmos. This perspective allows for a coherent explanation of the universe. Morgan argued that the integration of organic theory with emergent evolution provides a systematic framework for understanding hierarchical relations, which emerge through the process of emergent evolution. This study explores how Morgan’s perspectives can be identified in Whitehead’s philosophy, thereby elucidating the core of Whitehead’s Philosophy of Organism.

In the philosophy of religion beginning with Friedrich Schleiermacher and established by German Idealism the transcendent immanence, in which the transcendent spontaneously in order unfolds to the logic, nature and mind, and takes place like in Hegel’s logic, is the very important way of thinking. However, since the beginning of the 20th century, the philosophy of religion based on the theory of relativity and quantum theory, the double negation of the field of absolute nothingness, Receptacle or chora opened “now and here” is the core. In “now and here” where time and space are transcended as a moment or duration, the field or Receptacle and the individual are oneness. In the case of double negating by the field of absolute nothingness or the eternal object, it is very important, that the self-emptiness with agape or mercy of the absolute nothingness gives simultaneously rise to the self-awareness of the individual, namely “the death of ego sive the rebirth of true self”. The path to tide over the crisis of earth and cosmos now in the 21st century, seems to me, the above stated double negation.

Philosophy and business have traditionally been considered to be incompatible. Today, however, companies are also called upon to solve social issues and present their own Purpose, and need to pursue values for a better life and a better society. The theme of philosophy and business is also related to A. N. Whitehead. After he moved to Harvard University in 1924, he influenced and was influenced by the scholars and businesspersons at Harvard Business School. In Japan as well, there are numerous studies that apply his philosophy to business administration. After researching Whitehead's philosophy of nature, metaphysics and cosmology, I established Japan's first philosophy-based consulting firm, Cross Philosophies, Ltd., in May 2017. This paper reports and examines how Whitehead's philosophy and business are integrated in practice, introducing our enterprises. Furthermore, I will discuss issues concerning philosophy and business, and propose my vision on these matters.
