DAMAGE ANAYSIS OF RESIDENTIAL LANDS IN THE 2004 NIIGATA-KEN CHUETSU EARTHQUAKE AND ITS COUNTERMEASURES

Abstract

This paper is focusing on damage to residential lands of Nagaoka City, Kawaguchi Town and Tookamachi City in the 2004 Niigata-ken Chuetsu Earthquake. The safety judgment of residential lands was conducted widely just after the earthquake in the stricken areas. The damage analysis of residential lands is conducted by using the date of the safety judgment. The characteristics of damage are investigated in comparison with the damage done by the 1995 Hyogoken-Nambu Earthquake.
