Abstract
The damage of 26, 540 m in the total length has been caused in the riverbank of the Tokachi River during the 2003 Tokachi-oki earthquake. This paper deals with damage analysis of the riverbank of Tokachi River in the 2003 Tokachi-oki Earthquake. Sites of the damage are overlapped with old topographical maps and the damage to riverbank occurred in the past earthquakes. The causes of the damage have been clarified by both using the field investigation data and the result of study mentioned above. Characteristics of earthquake damage are also investigated.
