Abstract
Firstly, we analyzed and characterized aproximate flow of typical resins (PE: Polyethylene, PP: Polypropylene, PS: Polystyrene, PET: Polyethylene terephthalate, PVC: Poly vinyl chloride, ABS: Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene resin, and AS: Acrylonitrile-styrene resin) in Japan. Packaging and containers account for a large part of the plastic use, and the most of them are collected as household wastes after use. Secondly, we also analyzed the detailed plastic flow of packaging and containers, and found that about 800, 000 tons of PE (Polyethelene) film and about 500, 000 tons of PS (Polystyrene) containers become household wastes a year.
