Abstract
The objective of this study was to gain a better understanding of visits and usage of the environmental information web site run by Akanoi-Biwako Environmental Citizens' Initiative (an incorporated nonprofit organization) with access log analyses for 1999 to 2004. As a result, it was revealed that the ratio of visitors who stay longer in the site has been declining while the total number of visitors to the site increasing; and academic and personal users have shown their different interests in scientific or exchange type information respectively since the site inauguration. The study also indicated that access log analysis would be a useful tool even for environmental NPOs' to grasp the flaws of their web sites and improve the accessibility and usability of the sites.
