The Hokkaido development bureau is planning the access road for the offshore artificial island of Oinaoshi fishing port in Hokkaido Muroran City. The Society Submerged Floating Tunnel Technology Research have studied on the access road using Submerged Floating tunnel (SFT) technology. It is possible to design and to construct the access road for Oinaoshi. The extension of the underwater part of this SFT is about 300 m, the basic specifications are 2-lanes road for automobile and pavement.
This paper describes the development process for fixed type SFT for automobile road in shallow water. The structure of this SFT is rectangular reinforced concrete hulls supported by steel piles. And each hulls have buoyancy. In case of the fixed structure in water, the wave force which acts on hulls must be evaluated right. In this development, it is evaluating right the wave force which acts on hulls using the technique that the irregularity and the non-linear-ness of the wave, too, can be evaluated.
