Abstract
Extensive beach nourishment was carried out at Sanur and Nusa Dua beaches in Bali, Indonesia to recover natural sandy beach on the reef coasts. Planning and construction of beach nourishment were described in detail. 3.0*105m3 and 3.5*105m3 of sand were nourished at Sanur and Nusa Dua beaches, respectively. Monitoring surveys have been conducted to investigate stability of nourished beaches. Due to the change of the shoreline and longitudinal profiles, artificial beaches which were separated by groins and headlands reached in a stable condition within a few months. Sand loss was negligibly small.
