A larger foraminiferal assemblage consisting of Miogypsinella ubaghsi (Tan), Spiroclypeus margaritatus (Schlumberger) and other species is described from limestone blocks dredged at two sites on the Komahashi-Daini Seamount of the Kyushu-Palau Ridge. The fauna dates the limestone samples as Late Oligocene and is correlatable with the younger part of the Minamizaki Limestone on the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands. These shallow-water benthic foraminifera give evidence for the shallow-water attitude of the Kyushu-Palau Ridge during the Oligocene, which has been rifted, submerged, and finally subsided to the present water depth.
