Abstract
In this research, we developed a simulation system which can monitor the states of machine tools and predict the cutting load. The system is composed of a machine tool, CNC, and PC. The PC is connected to the CNC by a high-speed serial bus (HSSB). This system stores the state of machine tools at regular intervals in a database. The simulator of cutting load in this system predicts the cutting load from the stored machining load and cutting volume calculated from NC data. It can predict the cutting load at an error of less than 4% by this simulator.
