Abstract
Computer–aided design (CAD) systems have been developed for modeling the desired 3D forms of products and they are useful for improving efficiency of product detail design. However, it is often difficult to use CAD systems for aesthetic design because aesthetic design is creative activity and strongly depends on creativity of designers. In the initial design process of the external form of a product, a designer embodies the form from the image and concept of a targeted product through drawing line sketches. Therefore, quantitative design–evaluation for line sketches would aid the process of drawing line sketches for efficient design. In this study, a method to control the shape image of a curve is proposed by using shape evaluation indexes in order to support drawing sketch–lines.
