Abstract
This paper reports on a linear stepping actuator called DC electrostatic impact drive, which utilizes impact force caused by the oscillating weight. In this paper, we focused on the driving characteristics of this actuator and measured the displacement and electrical potential of the oscillating weight and the displacement of the actuator body. The actuator moved in a speed of 400 um/s when a constant voltage of 1000 V was applied. We also studied actuator′s behavior under various loads or on various inclined planes. This actuator could push a load of 100 g weight and climb on 4.5 degree slope.
