Abstract
The present work aims at development of the new high-efficiency polishing method in polishing processing of the cemented carbide material, which is used as a mold etc.. In this paper, the special flank wear phenomenon of a small cemented carbide tool was observed during ultra high-speed end milling of the polybenzimidazole (PBI) material which is one of thermoplastic resins. And tool wear mechanism in the combination of a cemented carbide and PBI materials was clarified. The new polishing method for realizing high-efficiency polishing of cemented carbide material using this mechanism was proposed, and the polishing performance of new method was investigated.
