Abstract
To digital cameras, mobile phones with a camera, CD/DVD players and liquid crystal displays, optical parts such as aspheric lenses, free form surface lenses, light guiding plates, prism sheet and micro lens array, etc. are applied. These are ultra precision parts that have curved surface or precise form, and the accuracy influences the performance of the products. These parts are manufactured in molding processes. To secure the accuracy of the molds that have curved surface or precise form, suitable ultra-precision machines and quantification of the accuracy such as form accuracy, surface roughness or surface quality are indispensable. This paper describes present conditions about ultra-precision machines that correspond to curved surface, especially aspheric surface or precise form machining, accuracy and measurement.
