Abstract
Effects of a cutting edge shape on a cutting thickness are discussed. Calculation method of the changing of cutting thickness with cutting edge shape are developed to observe effects of a cutting edge shape on the milling process. The calculation is performed with various models of the cutting edge shape which is the simple sine curve and changes their amplitude to determine the actual cutting area and cutting thickness. The calculations show that the actual cutting area on the cutting edge are decreased with increasing of the amplitude of sine curve edge.
