Abstract
In detail process, it is required not only to exactly define a product shape but also to assign attribute information and define the manufacturing shape. However, to assign attribute information and define the manufacturing shape needs expertise and experience. In this study, ″Function Features″ are proposed. To assign attribute information and define the manufacturing shape are realized by just only assigning a ″Function Feature″ to a portion of a design part. A basic system based on the proposed methods for injection molding and press forming was developed, and results of simple experiments confirmed the usefulness of the system and ″Function Features″.
