Concept of Supporting the Design of Business Strategy Scenarios

Abstract

Responding to an increasing need for establishing a sustainable society, companies are required to integrate sustainability perspectives into their business strategies. Designing scenarios is a powerful approach to examining various business strategies by drawing various possible futures about business environment. However, computational assistance in designing such scenarios is hardly provided. This paper firstly presents a framework for designing business strategy scenarios, which involve business environments as well as business strategies based on those environments. Then, an approach to supporting the scenario design is proposed for encouraging companies to design scenarios in a computational manner. In this approach, business strategy scenarios are composed using existing sustainability scenarios for their efficient composition.
