Abstract
Natural materials are paid attention because they are believed to be environmentally superior. Meanwhile, it is known that a bamboo has higher growth rate. Therefore, we proposed a sustainable manufacturing system focusing on bamboo. A novel extraction method of bamboo fibers end-milled from bamboo using a machining center with in-situ measurement was proposed. It was shown that fabrication of binder-free composite was performed using the only bamboo fibers by hot press forming method. In the present report, Environmental impacts of the composites were evaluated quantitatively using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
