Abstract
In this paper we present a novel method for the extraction of object break lines from point cloud data obtained using terrestrial laser scanner (TLS). The final goal of our investigation is the automated reconstruction of CAD drawings of objects surveyed by TLS. In order to use TLS in real environment, we have developed an automated method that in a first step removes noise from the data acquired by TLS and after extracts object break lines. Using our proposed method, we automated the process of extracting break lines from TLS point cloud data which includes noise cause by vehicles, pedestrians and vegetation. Only few minutes are now required to remove noise and extract break lines from TLS data composed of several ten millions of point. This represents a time saving effect of more than ten times compared to the usual manual operation.
